The Urli and The Candle
USD 200
We came across this antique brass Urli, a traditional Indian vessel with roots in South Indian households, particularly Kerala and Tamil Nadu. Traditionally used for cooking and serving, Urli have also found a place in homes as vessels for floating flowers and water.
We were drawn to its rounded form, looped handles and beautifully aged finish, which carry the quiet character of a well-used object.
We gave the brass urli a new purpose by filling its bowl with white wax, turning it into a candle.
Colourful wax letters spelling out ‘Antique Piece’ add a playful twist, bringing a little humour to an object with a history of its own.
